From my journal during my journey through Ignatian Exercises in 2023
“You formed my inner most being, shaping my delicate inside and my intricate outside, and wove them all together in my mother’s womb.”
I am enjoying imagining You as a Mother or a Grandmother. Deep brown, wrinkled, warm skin. Expertly weaving. Braiding hair, knitting, stitching, kneading, folding, crafting with love.
I feel the warmth of Your hands on me… so much love and gentle care.
I love imagining You this way. I feel Your kindness.
You smell like earth and cinnamon and cloves and orange and vanilla and honey.
I hear and feel You humming as You work. Maybe also the quiet jingle of gold bracelets.
You pause to kiss me on my head, my forehead, my cheeks. My tiny hands. As You do, You inhale my scent… a pleasing aroma.
We gaze at each other. So much love. Adoration. Awe.
My heart fills with tears and they overflow. Flooding the earth with tears of love and devotion and awe.
A voice whispers: who am I to receive such love from you? But you hush it away. You call me wonderful.
Even now as I write this, I feel the warmth of Your love and attention surrounding me.
